Dr. Berin Gilfillan holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, a Master's degree in Communication from Regent University (formerly CBN University), and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Vision International University. Berin also studied missions and church planting for two years at Fuller Theological Seminary. In 1985, Berin married his wife, Lisa, and they have three children. Lisa works alongside Berin in the ministry, spearheading a training program for women called "Women of the World" (WOW).

Berin and Lisa worked from 1986-89 with the ministry of German evangelist Reinhard Bonnke. Berin headed up Bonnke’s television ministry and Lisa headed up the publications department of that work. In 1991, they started the missionary ministry of Good Shepherd Ministries, International. From 1992-94, the Gilfillan family were missionaries in the country of Nigeria. There they started 140 video Bible schools and also pioneered a successful preschool.

Since 1994, Good Shepherd Ministries, International has been developing the International School of Ministry (ISOM), a project sometimes referred to as “the training equivalent of the Jesus movie”. The ISOM is a video training curriculum that easily can be translated into any language on earth. The purpose of the ISOM is to disciple people and to train leaders on a massive scale.Teachers who recorded for the curriculum include Joyce Meyer, Reinhard Bonnke, Marilyn Hickey, John Bevere, Jack Hayford, Dick Eastman, T.L Osborn and about 25 other well-known Christian ministers. Dr. T.L. Osborn said, concerning the ISOM program: "As far as I know, the development of this Curriculum is the most important thing happening on the earth for the Kingdom of God today."

The ISOM curriculum currently is being used in 141 nations and in well over 65 of the world’s major languages are being developed. By 2009, over 13,000 training sites around the world had been identified that were using ISOM materials. This number consistently grows by about 1,000 new schools each year. Berin’s ministry combines solid missions understanding with cutting edge technology to facilitate the training of church-planters, laborers and ministry leaders. He strongly endorses pastoral leadership and authority, and believes every local church should become a training center to equip God's people.

In 1991, after two years of study at Fuller Theological Seminary, Berin & Lisa started the missionary work of Good Shepherd Ministries, International. From 1992-94 the Gilfillan family were missionaries in the country of Nigeria. Over the past 15 years, Good Shepherd Ministries, International has been developing the International Curriculum®, a project sometimes referred to as “the training equivalent of the Jesus movie.” This is a high-technology video training curriculum that can be used in any language on earth to disciple people and to train leaders for the ministry. Teachers on the curriculum include Joyce Meyer, Reinhard Bonnke, Marilyn Hickey, John Bevere, Jack Hayford, Dick Eastman, Dr. T.L Osborn, and about 25 other well-known Christian leaders.

The International Curriculum has been the basis of developing the International School of Ministry®, a two-year, church-based, video Bible school. The ISOM® now is being used in 141 nations, and over 65 of the world’s major languages are being developed. Currently the ministry estimates there are over 13,000 training sites around the world using the ISOM® materials, with over 250,000 people being trained through the program.

Lisa spearheads a new project of Good Shepherd Ministries called Women of the World (WOW). WOW is a sequel to the ISOM® and is focused on encouraging, empowering, and equipping women in many nations to reach their full potential in Christ. The program was launched in November 2005 in Manila, the Philippines.

Lisa not only ministers the Word with great wit and humor, but she also moves in the prophetic gifts. She is a powerful teacher and preacher in her own right, and is also very gifted in working with children in large or small meetings, VBS programs, and camp meetings.
